Lea Faka-Tonga

While Alissa and I still have a very limited grasp on the Tongan language, I'm really starting to believe that it's much easier than someone having to learn English. Tongan simplifies so many silly things that English greatly overcomplicates. Here's a funny little example:

"fie" - to want or need
"mohe" - to sleep
"kai" - to eat
"inu" - to drink

I am sleepy - "'Oku ou fiemohea" (literally, "I am want sleep")
I am hungry - "'Oku ou fiekaia" ("I am want eat")
I am thirsty - "'Oku ou fieinua" ("I am want drink")

Nofo a e,

- Mark
